Research and Travel Fund (R & T Fund)
The Graduate Student Association Research and Travel Fund (R&T Fund) was established as a way to help University of Alabama students involved in conference presentation and research. GSA feels that conference presentation and research is essential to the academic growth and development of students attending The University of Alabama.
The Research and Travel Committee (R&T Committee) is charged with the responsibility of administering R&T Funds received from the Student Government Association (SGA) Financial Affairs Committee (FAC). The application standards utilized by the R&T Committee are designed to evaluate requests in a fair and unbiased manner, thus providing equal opportunity for all students.
R&T Application Deadlines and Decision Dates
Applications are reviewed on a monthly basis. The online link will be available during the following application periods. Review decisions and notifications of award will take place 2-3 weeks from the end of the application period.
Application Periods for the 2007-2008 Fall and Spring semesters are as follows:
FALL 2007
Application Period 1:
Monday, Oct. 1, 2007- Friday, Oct. 26, 2007
Application Period 2:
Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007- Monday, Nov. 26, 2007
SPRING 2007
Application Period 1:
Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008-Friday, Jan. 25, 2008
Application Period 2:
Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 – Friday, Feb. 22, 2008
Application Period 3:
Monday, March 3, 2008 – Friday, March 21, 2008
Application Period 4:
Tuesday, April 1, 2008 – Friday, April 25, 2008
REMEMBER: Each student is eligible to receive funding once for research and once for travel during the fisical year (October-September). Also, you must have all necessary information prior to beginning the application process. The application will NOT save your information if you do not have all of the items listed. This includes:
* An Electronic Copy of Letter of Spport from your advisor
* An abstract or copy of your acceptance to conference or to do research
* The Accounting FOAPL number for your academic department
* All other information concerning monetary amounts requested, etc.
